The Knights of Columbus are now active at St. Catherine of Siena and ready to help parish families and the broader community in need.
The Fern Ridge Council (17884) of the Knights of Columbus was officially recognized as a council on June 21, 2021, after a few years of ground-laying efforts. The council is headed by Grand Knight Antonio Moreno, who worked tirelessly with former pastor Fr. Theo Lange to create the parish’s own council.
The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal lay organization standing up for Roman Catholic beliefs and serving the church and its families, both financially and by other means. It is also known for its work outside the church. Degrees of membership are based on four principles – charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.
Prior to the council’s recognition, Antonio and a few other knights in the parish formed a roundtable of the St. Rose of Lima Council in Monroe. With enncouragement from Fr. Theo -- at the time the state chaplain of the Knights -- Moreno and others recruited more than the required 22 men to form their own council.
The council has been active since its inception writing by-laws, working toward approval of its charter, and logging multiple volunteer hours on parish events and programs. Its primary goal is to be more active in service to the parish and the church.
Men of the parish interested in joining the Knights may contact Antonio Moreno at 505-363-0702, Derrold Burnett, 303-246-0352, or any of the other knights on the council. Like any successful organization, there is strength in numbers.
